| 162729 | 2003-07-25 11:18:00 | If I want to install extra programs, I expect the > computer will automatically put them on the D Drive , > as there won't be room on the first drive. Is that > right? NO! it will not do that how big is your C: drive may be you should use the new hard drive as Master taking out your old drive and put the old drive back in as the slave.( you will have to reinstall windows if you do this) And one other thing - I have been told to > type in fdisk to format and partition the second > drive. How many partitions would you suggest I need? You can use fdisk i have 80gb drive partitioned it to 2 40gb partition one with windows on and one with video and mp3 on.and a 20gb hard drive for my back up of files and folders. |

| 162730 | 2003-07-25 11:25:00 | Thanks BootyLicious, I should be OK keeping my OS and programs on the original drive, if I can put my whole My Documents folder on the second drive. Mainly music and pictures. |

| 162732 | 2003-07-25 12:50:00 | Most programs let you designate what drive and in what folder you want your program installed to(but moving all archived files to the secondary drive thus freeing up space on c drive for more programs to be installed is the logical way to go) | metla (154) | ||
| 162733 | 2003-07-29 03:39:00 | I thank the readers of PressF1 for their help. I have installed the 2nd drive and it seems to be functioning properly! I have a few queries still, but will post them later. Thanks |
