162989 2003-07-26 06:35:00 After an automated Windows Update session (also including a new Direct X thing, whatever this is), each time I startup also my Quick View Plus v.7 (file viewer) starts up and is shown in the system tray (XP's Notification Tray) but system hangs (click message away and you're OK).

I do not want QVP to start by itself but cannot prevent it by the QVP tool option and thus ran "msconfig" to see if I could uncheck some thing related to QVP (there was none). The QVP shows on startup the view of file dxdllreg.exe and when I uncheck this file (via the System Configuration Utility) then all is sweet in respect of QVP on startup (ie no start by itself), but I get a message on startup from the Utility saying I am in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode and that I should undo the change (ie check again dxdllreg). I uninstalled QVP and re-installed it but this did not help.
Any ideas out there what I should try?

Q: Why do I get a ‘QVP Locked on Startup’ or DXDLLREG.EXE’ error message when I boot up my computer?

A: These errors were most likely caused by a recent Microsoft update to the Direct X 9 software. The problem lies in that fact that a program that is unknown to Quick View Plus is being utilized on the first re-boot after you’ve applied the Direct X 9 or 9.0a package.

To resolve these issues:
You will need to click through the errors and get to the desktop. Then you need to manually start Quick View Plus and then look for the Magnifying Glass Icon in the lower right hand corner in what’s referred to as the “System Tray”.

If you right click on the Magnifying glass you will see the Plug-ins and Applications Tabs. Select Applications and disable the Windows Explorer integration for Quick View Plus by clicking the check box next to Windows Explorer. Click OK on the dialog box that appears after you click on the check box. Disabling the integration with Windows Explorer will also affect the Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express integrations.

After this is completed, restart the computer. If everything goes as expected, the operating system should load without problems to the desktop.

Next, manually start Quick View Plus again and re-apply the Windows integration settings by repeating the steps above and then re-boot the computer.

You should no longer see either error message from this point on.
