| 162938 | 2003-07-26 01:03:00 | I have a MAJOR problem with compaq at the moment, on Wed my machine needed to be restored so I followed the directions and put my Quick Restore disk in and followed the prompts. Problem is that the machine had just formatted the hard drive then it would not go any further. So I have a machine with no operating system on it so it's useless. I phoned compaq and sent emails through their web site (still waiting for reply from the emails even though it claims on their automated response that you get a reply from a Tech usually within 4 business hours). Got passed on to loads of people, got given loads of different numbers to ring. Until I got someone who had a bit of sense and tried to help. Here is the problem my machine is a Compaq 100c and the quick restore disks are compaq model 5000 (so they gave me the wrong disks). I need the disks for the 100c so I can get my machine back and one of their responses was that I have to send it to Christchurch to get it reloaded, asked what would I have to do if it needs restoring again response Send it to Christchurch again. If I have paid for the restore disks then do I not have the right to have the restore disks, it is not my fault that they sent the incorrect restore disks with the system. What can I do, can I demand that a copy of the 100c Restore Disks be sent to me or do I just have an expensive dust collector? |

If the wrong discs were supplied with it then it is not the product you thought you wre purchasing. I assuming it is still within the warranty period and this is a personal not a business PC, even so within NZ consumer law you still have rights. Demand, politely, of the retailer that, they correct the problem and on site as the product has not been delivered complete. Cheers Murray P |
