162886 2003-07-26 01:45:00 that game was only important for pride...
i knew the kiwis were gonna lose but was hoping i was wrong

but the warriors are gonna get up in the finals again...
and the 2nite games...bledisloe cup..and to find out if aussies can actually handle big expectations since world cup is only down the road

we better have a good team in there..stupid pay disputes...
all blacks should get nothing considering who they are...
playing for the country is more than money can buy

162887 2003-07-26 03:29:00 What game was that? ..he asks in all innocence. Terry Porritt (14)
162888 2003-07-26 07:37:00 LOL Terry It was the Kangaroos Verse the Kiwis in rugby league.
we got thrashed 50 - 6 I think? I lost count & interest :D
I can remember the last time they had a double header on the same weekend, We lost the rugby & the league, Hope the All Blacks can do better tonight.

Cheers Steve

162890 2003-07-26 08:19:00 Sync - you are a sick unit. Imagine having the effrontery to come on "our" site and crow about a piffling game like league. Kiwis only play it cos we don't have enough room in our All Black and Super 12 teams to give all our superlative players a go.
Now shuffle off and find a wombat site to occupy yourself with.

As to the current All Black pay debacle - I agree that it seems to be driven by greed. These guys are very well rewarded already and 50k is more than the average household earns in a year.

Mind you, compared with gridiron, baseball, golf, tennis, soccer, ice hockey, and basketball in the outside world, rugby players are away down the scale.

The world is really topsy turvey. In the 19th century the population admired writers, inventors, philosophers, and teachers. Basically people of learning and knowledge who advanced the needs and breadth of society.
Today who are the people we look up to? TV newsreaders, sports people (even the NZ cricket team for Petes sake), rock musicians, and film stars. Cure cancer and you might get your 15 minutes of fame - but mainly out of interest in which bio-tech company holds the patent.

A Kiwi helped discover DNA but how many of us know that?

Sigh. I think I'll go and watch Mr Bean.

Perhaps they should compromise and meet each other halfway.

A bonus of $50000 if they win. :)

A fine of $50000 if they don't. :(

:D

162892 2003-07-26 09:03:00 thats what i thought
why argue now..they seem certian of what they gonna do..
why dont they just play the game..
and if they actually win the world cup..do the arguing afterwards..
coz (look at the silver ferns)..the money will come after rewards..
so sign contract with a line saying "must be sure of $50,000 or more with winning of world cup" so then after world cup they get that much..and if they want more..argue for it then...

162893 2003-07-26 09:32:00 Unfortunately "sort it out later" is what keeps me in a job. If you ever have an agreement with someone involving money - get the details agreed first. Payment date, interest, amount, purpose etc. And write it down. Later is generally too late.
The All Blacks rightly or wrongly are at least doing this in the correct order.

Actually the idea of a penalty for not reaching, say, the final might be a good incentive. Works in the business world and as we are all told, rugby is a business.
