162819 2003-07-25 23:17:00 Hi
Im having a poblem with my motherboard (a Gigabyte kt 400 ga-7va) and my Graphics card (gf4 mx 440). The problem is that the card is only running at 2X agp (its a 4X card) but when i go to change the board to 4X there is no option for it in both the bios and using rivatuner. When i look at the system details it says "$0400000005 AGP rate : 1x 2x supported, 2x selected" My board clearly states it IS a 8X motherboard, i have all the right drivers which ive re-installed a bazillion times and ive checked all through Bios and where there should be an agp option there is nothing. Does anyone know what the cause of this problem could be?

Thanks

There are more than a few Gigabyte mothers like this so this may apply to yours as well.

After entering the BIOS setup screen hold down CTRL and press F1.

Once done a new menu option will be listed called 'Advanced Chipset Features.' It will appear around third from the top on the left hand list.

You will be able to specify the AGP speed in there.

Good luck :)

162821 2003-07-26 01:00:00 G'day i'm running the same system as yours.

You have got confused with the speed of AGP and the version of AGP. Your AGP slot will be running at either 4x or 8x depending on your AGP card, however the version of 4x & 8x is refered to as v2 1x and 2x is v1
i know very confusing, but rest assured you will be going at the right speed.
