Why do they need an incentive to win the World Cup? Most (all) NZ sporting teams do it for the pride.

162908 2003-07-27 08:50:00 Don't forget the ABs get a brand new XR8 Falcon, fly business class, get free this, free that, paid at least $75000 to play Super 12 and a further $300,000 to play for the AllBlacks

And you think they need a Government handout as well?

162909 2003-07-27 08:53:00 no i dont actually think that..
i just want nz to actually have a top side at the world cup not some b team that has been on their minds recently..
and since we arent giving what they want...
i know it would mean that if we give them now...they would ask for more later and expect us to bend over and give to them then too..

to be honest i wish they just sign the damn paper..

162910 2003-07-27 09:17:00 Here's a thought, ever wonder why NZ's national basketball team is ranked number 4 in the world, ahead of the USA who is only ranked 6th. How many of their "gun" players gave up their NBA salaries to represent their country in the BB world cup last year? Not enough it seems, I dont want the AB's going down the same road, but it definitely should not be a taxpayer funded request. I pay my taxes so I can sit in the Auckland traffic jams, not so that the AB's can fly over me in helicopters! This is an issue between the players and the NZRFU. I reckon they make enough in gate sales and TV sponsership deals, that's why we have to watch our own national game at an ungodly hour, 11pm at night! sinndisco (4059)

Thomas- er....either this is a windup or my knowledge is sadly lacking.
Wouldn't Herr Gutenberg (and various ancient Chinese), Frank Whittle, Babbage and Alan Turing be a little startled at this bold assertion?:D
Naturally they would have liked to be Kiwis but cruel fate decreed otherwise.

162913 2003-07-27 23:20:00 Ha Ha Winston 007,my point was you have one inventor and then you do tend to go on about it,never quite understood the need to take vicarious credit for what someone else has done,is because we have not done much ourselves.? Thomas (1820)
