162962 2003-07-26 04:53:00 We have a wired ADSL router with a USB port on it. Also have a laptop with 802.11b built in. Currently the laptop is connected to the router with network cable.

Can I plug a 802.11 wireless adapter into the router USB port to make a wireless connection between the laptop and the router (and thus do away with the cable)?

The first is that the USB port on the router (and the USB 802.11b device) are both slave ports. USB requires a master / slave relationship.

You really need a wireless access point (AP), that connects to the ethernet part of the router.
