| 162920 | 2003-07-26 00:55:00 | Have just set up a new computer with Windows XP, have installed Office 2000. My problem is that when I open Excel, it goes fine until I click on the close button on top right hand corner - and nothing happens. Or sometimes it "dints in" and then stops responding. I can go Ctrl Alt Del and look in the task list - it says the programme is "running" I can close the programme with File->Exit but would really like to have the red X working properly!. This is the second computer I have set up this week but the other one is fine! Don't think I did anything different. I have tried uninstalling and resintalling Office- no improvement. Would appreciate your help if you have struck this before Thanks I had a bit of a search on line but could see anything jumping out at me. |

Specs - Configuration: Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz D845GL Mainboard Integrated LAN Sound & Graphics 40Gb 7200rpm Hard Disk 3.5 floppy Disk Keyboard and Mouse 17" Samsung Monitor Windows XP Pro Just got the feeling that this might be a software problem....its very annoying especially since WORD closes just fine with the X |

| 162925 | 2003-07-26 06:53:00 | Assuming Excel is still installed on your machine how about trying re-registering Excel in the windows registry? Go to Start | Run. In the dialog box type "Excel.exe /RegServer" [without the curly quotes]. Select OK. This will update the registry with all of Excel's settings. It might fix the issue. Then again it may not. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. |
