163438 2003-07-28 06:40:00 Can somebody explain the following error message when installing games, this one is from installing 1942. " CRC error the file D:\1942\archives\animations.rfa does not match the setups .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corupted, please contact your software vendor."
I am running win xp pro/ p4/Dir X9/512mb ram.
Its driving me mad !!!!

163439 2003-07-28 07:06:00 Exactly that, CRC is a method for checking file integrity, in your case the file has been compromised, meaning the CRC signature doesn't match up. aka corrupted, the file will not install as it is corrupted, the only way around it is to get a new file, roofus (483)
163440 2003-07-28 07:26:00 Are you using original BF1942 CDs?

If so then you can contact the vendor who sold it to you and ask to replace the CD.

If you're not using an original BF1942 then I suggest you purchase a retail copy instead. It is well worth the money and the NZ BF1942 community is huge with lots of local servers to play on.

163441 2003-07-28 08:18:00 Yes its likely part of the SafeDisk 2's copy protection. You could try turning on 'Hide CDR media' with CloneCd. Thats assuming it is a backup of the cd?

Either that or copy the file from the cd, into the right directory on the hard drive, then run the patch again?

163442 2003-07-28 09:41:00 The installation is from the original disc, same thing happens with desert storm, but it wil install ok on my 2nd computer wgeorgec (1648)
163443 2003-07-28 09:44:00 I have tried to a fresh install 3 times of windows to the same comp but this is what happens. wgeorgec (1648)
163444 2003-07-28 09:56:00 You may need to clean your CD Rom drive with a head cleaner - it's possible that the reader isn't reading the CDs properly due to dirty heads. A good cleaner is the Philips brand one you can get from Dick Smith (although a little expensive at $29).

163445 2003-07-28 10:36:00 Funny thing is its a new new cd rom, could that be the problem and how do you prove it to the shop ? DSE in this case. I might try to swap cd roms and see what happens. wgeorgec (1648)
163446 2003-07-29 06:17:00 A thought has occurred ... based on another thread. Have a look and see if the CD drive has DMA enabled. If so, try turning that off. It won't cost anything to try this. :D Graham L (2)
