2003-07-28 03:08:00 | Hi to all Tech Heads! I am running Win 2000 and have just installed the final version 6 of MSN Messenger. Does anyone know how to get the insidious beast out of Outlook Express. It has installed all my contacts with my e-mail addresses and starts up every time you open Outlook Express. Thanks to one and all, TonyS.

2003-07-28 03:24:00 | I thought it was only Windows Messenger that worked with O . E? Anyway, to stop it starting up when you open O . E: Tools > options . Under the general tab, *de-select* the box next to "Automatically log onto Windows Messenger . If it is already de-selected, then I don't know how to disable MSN messenger from loading . Don't know about stopping the contacts appearing in your address book . Sorry it's not much help . caffy

I do not think you can do that( & that happens with any verson of MSN messenger), unless you uninstall MSN messenger, because MSN messenger is part of Outlook Express . I hope that makes sense & Hope this helps . |

2003-07-28 04:11:00 | thats strange, because my MSN 6 does not start up when I open O . E . And the contacts certainly aren't in my address book! I only had that annoying problem with Windows messenger . That's why i stopped using it . MSN 6 is better than Win Mesenger

2003-07-28 06:13:00 | You could uninstall msngr and use an alternitive such as trillian (which connects to the msngr service) : www.ceruleanstudios.com
