I've got some great ideas to use for our Scout Group!!

Also what about passing things around when they are blindfolded (to give them a break from the eating part) - sometimes its the verbal description that put people off. For example - telling them its eyeballs but really its peeled grapes, telling them its vomit but its really baked beans, telling them its dog doos when its a warmed up prune etc etc.

163411 2003-07-28 06:27:00 Fear is a matter of mind over matter ....

On that thought, the power of kids (and adults) imaginations can be quite strong. Blindfold them and let them use their senses, eg smell, taste, touch to interact with various *interesting* items. Something quite innocent and harmless eg jelly can be can take on the characteristics of something quite icky such as the goo from interior of cows eyes when you can't actually see it. You don't have to tell them that it is only jelly .... ]:)

Encourage their imaginations with a few well chosen words about the mystery item, and their minds will go into overdrive and will do the rest for you :D

The blindfold method has a couple of additional benefits; no risks of the childs parents suing you for damages (apart from mental trauma) and blindfolded kids cannot wander far, therefore it is easier to keep them under some sort of control. :D

Have fun, hope the weather will be good to you.

Cheers

The party is obviously not being held at your house.

Has anyone suggested "drinking" raw eggs?

Make sure you check for allergies before eating stuff - that one would kill me... literally :(

163414 2003-07-28 10:15:00 If you go with the blindfold idea tell them they're going to tested for their resistance to heat with a hot object touching their skin. In reality use an ice block - in the first few seconds it touches, the skin really thinks it's searing hot. Will give them a hell of a scare! Shortstop (632)

Great idea Baldy! And with the appropriate food colouring added, it could make a very convincing fake blood. ]:)

Robo: Lighting and background music and/or sound affects could help create the right atmosphere. And......will you be dressing up as a school master or something scary?

When we organised a Treasure Hunt for my daughter's birthday we designed and printed out Diplomas of Achievement on the computer for each of the kids to take home along with their bag of goodies. :)

163417 2003-07-28 10:54:00 A friend of mine once ate Cat Food (when he was really little). He says that it was disguisting, but he's still alive:D somebody (208)
163418 2003-07-28 10:58:00 Try to get hold of some fish guts from a local fish-store. As long as it hasn't started to rot, it should be safe - get the kids to walk through them or something. somebody (208)
163419 2003-07-28 21:21:00 lol i would be more scared of what the parents would say rather than the kids....
lol have gumboot throwing, i guess you could integrate all those fun time childhood games into a fear factor style thing... interesting party i bet...

but have u worked out what the winner will be getting, or is going to be a thing where everyone gets something (reminds me of that japanese gameshow when they would yell *go home* *go home* when the person lost)
