| 163429 | 2003-07-28 05:19:00 | Hi I want to set up a library of very old family photographs on to disc. So far they scan pretty badly . They are all black and white and a few are sepia and some are pretty faded. Could you please give me the best scanner settings for gray scale for best results with old photos in terms of 1. the number of DPI I should select from the drop down menu ie from about 50 up to several thousand available 2 the percentage resolution ie from about 75% to several hundred available. My scanner is Vuego 340 U with Mirascan software and the Max Resolution is 9600 X 9600 I've tried the search topics in F1 without success and the Help dialogue box with my software also with no joy |

As to the resolution, it would depend how you intend looking at the photos in the future. Its pointless scanning at 9600 dpi when a PC screen is less than 100 dpi, if that was your intended means of viewing. |
