| 163341 | 2003-07-27 22:41:00 | Hi, I want to change the home page address recorded in IE by using vbs or javascript. Can someone show me the lines of code I would need. I have never used java before but know a little bit of VB. This is needed so I cant create a script to start IE then amend the home page as my work PC always amends the home address to the companies home page when IE is started. cheers Parry |

What you describe is usually set by a network administrator. What you ask may be in contravention of business policies and potentially an dismissable offense. |

| 163345 | 2003-07-28 00:03:00 | Hi Russell, thanks for replying. Yes I can do that but whenever IE is closed then reopened the Home Page returns to the companies, so it means I would have to change the home page whenever I opened IE. I think it may be a proxy server script or such like running when IE is opened. Thats why I just want a script file or such like that I can click which will open IE and change the Home Page to what I want. It may not work but I would like to give it a crack. Just makes it easier as I prefer a search engine to be my Home Page as the business web site doesnt have any info I dont know already. |

Im sorry, but I cant remember how to install reg keys from the command line, nor can I remember where to go in RegEdit to export the Registry Key either :-( |

| 163349 | 2003-07-28 00:25:00 | Thanks all, I prefer not to muck around in the registry when it's not my machine. If you visit some sites on the internet you can click a link to change your home page to their site. Is this actually amending the registry on my PC? | parry (27) | ||
| 163350 | 2003-07-28 00:30:00 | >OK - why not start IE by selecting the website from a Favourite? Yep can do. Its just quicker to click the Home Page button to always get there rather than having to go through the favourites list. Thats the only reason I want to amend the home page as Im often needing to search the net as part of my job to obtain info. No big deal, I just thought it would be quite a simple script to amend the Home page but perhaps not. |
