1342955 2013-05-24 03:43:00 been plauging my mum for months now.

had someone open it up recently and no loose cableas were discovered

comes and goes.

is pretty much constant during post, makes booting linux difficult

could it be a rootkit?

would like to solve this and set my mum up with linux on a SSD

no point in investing till this issue is resolved.

till then mum is stuck with windows 7 starter.

1342956 2013-05-24 03:54:00 Get tdsskiller then run it. Uninstall the video drivers if any are installed (besides what windows installed). They can cause probs. Or boot into safe mode. Is it still there? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1342957 2013-05-24 04:11:00 it occurs even while posting and viewing the bios menus. Mirddes (10)
1342958 2013-05-24 05:04:00 That rules out win drivers. Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Maybe faulty video RAM. Really hard to say. If the video was in a plug in card it could be swapped but you would need to be an agent to have swappable bits. linw (53)
1342959 2013-05-24 05:58:00 My money is on the cable between the LCD screen and the motherboard coming loose. Chilling_Silence (9)
