| 1318698 | 2012-12-17 04:50:00 | Hiya, just a little debate at home. My mum has a bank card (not credit/debit card) from Hong Kong. The card used to have Union Pay, EPS and Plus. The latest card did away Plus. BNZ ATM's have the Union Pay sign next to the machine. Not sure about EPS. Can the card only work with those logo's at the ATM? What happens if it is used at a ATM without those logo's? And what about purchases over the counter in a store? She's saying her card can work at any ATM but the fees would just be higher if the card logo isn't present next to the ATM machine. Edit - short of calling overseas, did some google searches but cannot find the answer. Other than even some of the larger cities in the world may have issues with foreign cards, so it's a hit or a miss. |

I am pretty sure my bro used his ANZ card overseas ... Some blurb from Kiwibank. When you use your ATM/EFTPOS card or Visa Debit Card to make an ATM balance enquiry at an overseas ATM. www.kiwibank.co.nz I just found this, need the logo at the ATM and at the store but given that not every store owner puts the logo there that can be a hit and a miss, I would presume hotels, supermarkets and petrol stations to support it or maybe not. www.bnz.co.nz Looks like the EPS at least its website says it's just in China/HKG. |
