1318438 2012-12-14 20:31:00 Seems a copy cat sort of thing over there. But little you can do about it as long as nutters are born. prefect (6291)
1318439 2012-12-14 20:39:00 Even one death is appalling.

But 26 deaths, including 18 children? The children are reported to be under-9 year olds.

:ban Ban firearms.

1318440 2012-12-14 20:46:00 You cant ban guns if the US constitution which is iron clad says you can bear arms. Why would you want to? then you couldn't protect yourself from nutters and outlaws who dont care too much about laws anyway. prefect (6291)
1318441 2012-12-14 23:31:00 How many kids were killed in Syria or Lebanon today?

I don't see their deaths getting this amount of TV news time.

How ^&%%# sanctimonious our society is :( :(

1318442 2012-12-15 00:09:00 Banning guns would not work.

Look at here in NZ with all the guns on farms and clubs etc.

They obviously want to beat the record in some sick way.

I think that they should arm all teachers in the USA and teach them how to use them, at least it would cut the number of casualties down.

(Perhaps in a locked desk.)

Or maybe on their hip - it would stop the kids answering back!

Yeah? How many of these victims had the opportunity to defend themselves from this nutter using their inalienable right to bear arms?

I absolutely agree. Teachers should carry guns then these shootings could be brought to a finish more quickly.

I can't see this working well in schools. Well at least the U.S equivalent of intermediate and high schools here.

The reason being that the majority of the kids will be at that stage in life where it's their hormones are taking over.
And once a students relationship ends badly and they know that the teacher has a gun in storage, well think worst case scenario.

Then there is also the risk of collateral damage.

And little Johnny Psycho.

1318446 2012-12-15 01:43:00 Plus the emerging trend, in this case as well, was that the culprit wore body armour, so perhaps look to restricting the sale of vests as just as important as restricting guns.

There's something crazy like 24,000 kids injured or killed by guns in the USA every year!!!!
When that is put beside the latest casualty, it makes it seem barely a blip.

Got to get rid of the guns, particularly the automatics, or anything with a clip holding more than 4 rounds.

The right to bear arms could be limited to a one or two shot weapon.

Nobody needs a clip of 20 rounds unless they've got homicidal intentions.
