1318987 2012-12-19 21:59:00 Is that for one song or for a whole albums worth?

Per song I was thinking. However, some albums would be overpriced at $1

1318988 2012-12-19 22:58:00 The chances of me getting a refund for these out of spec copy protected 'CDs'= zero.

Actually if they are new the chances are very high, consumer groups were advocating exactly that when they first appeared and in NZ our consumer law says something must be "suitable for the purpose for which it was sold". A CD that won't play in a CD player is definately not suitable for the purpose it was sold. I've only come across 2 out of my 250+ CD's though and it causes me personally no issues.

I think you'll find Philips argued they couldn't use the CD digital audio logo because they didn't conform to the standard, and I think they won that small victory given that philips is one of the developers/ owners of said standard. But who notices if the logo is on a CD or not. I probably have it wrong though, going from a fuzzy recollection of something I never paid too much attention to.

I remember that going up, and coming down, and it's brilliant. I've got a copy of the original stashed, because it's right on the money. The needs of culture, consumer and creators are not served by the existing US copyright laws.
