That can't be correct. You would need a massive ladder & lots of room

1319185 2012-12-23 00:12:00 I wasn't referring to ladders just pointing out that Frank had the wrong interpretation on how to express a gradient in figures. He seems to think for example that 1 in 50 is quite steep
whereas it is quite flat.

1319186 2012-12-23 00:23:00 I don't use ladders I use a one legged chair

And place your paint tin on a two legged tripod?

1 in 50 can be steep depending on context ;)

1319188 2012-12-23 01:04:00 Of course when I helped prepare a case, that eventually had one of Auckland busy footpath corner inside Auckland CBD area sandblasted to take the slippery gloss of the footpath to make it less dangerous in the wet, found there was three ways to measure a slope. That corner now is safer then the flat part of the footpath in the immediate neighborhood when the footpath is wet.

.......... but I suppose that is the difference in some people here, I would prefer to make it safer for other pedestrians than poke fun at other people here at this forum

1319189 2012-12-23 02:04:00 I was not poking fun. You were the one who suggested using your information if asked in a quiz. I was just pointing out it would be marked wrong. I'm a qualified mine surveyor so I do know a little about gradients. Dally (6292)
