1319082 2012-12-19 17:27:00 Ha! Actually I got the idea of this rig from you - from a SandyBridge setup you had

[I also copied the i5-3570 overclock off you - except that I thought you had 4.1 GHz. Have you increased it?]

Not exactly, it morphed into an ivy bridge and the default asus overclock is slightly higher. (I can't help myself, there was no need for the change)
Actually I suspect since my last BIOS update I may be running at stock speeds, but am yet to notice the difference.

1319083 2012-12-19 18:29:00 Good idea to have at least two feet between the operator and the screen. :D Bobh (5192)

Same here. I thought I would wait for my i5-2500k to go out of date but Computer Lounge had a special on the SG08 and I stockpiled it. It was all down hill from there...

The Ivy Bridge CPU is 77W versus Sandy Bridge 95W and I wanted the lowest power usage to reduce fan noise. In retrospect the i5-2500k would have transferred OK (but IB has other advantages)

[Anyone thinking of building one of these should research the width of the graphics card. My Sapphire HD 7750 - not the silent 'Ultimate' version - is 111mm wide, from top of the card to bottom of the connector (not from top of the card to the top of the MB socket) - and it only just fits in, with not even 0.5mm to spare.]

1319087 2012-12-19 23:02:00 never mind my 580 which is 3 slots wide.... dugimodo (138)
1319088 2012-12-20 01:17:00 I just built an mini machine with asrock B75 mini-ITX board...was going to use Elite 120, but thought it too small and fiddly, so go a Bitfenix Prodigy instead...cool case! SolMiester (139)
