1318362 2012-12-14 09:45:00 Has anyone noticed recently that the 3G connection speed has dropped quite significantly? My phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) struggles to reach past 50 kbps nowadays, with an average ping of > 300ms.

I am in Napier if it makes a difference.

1318363 2012-12-14 10:11:00 Might be a tower fault or a problem with the backhaul. I'm guessing it's a tower fault with the bandwith allocation. Talk to Vodafone, they'll look into it. Another scenario is you have ticked the box "use 2G networks only" (under settings -> Mobile networks (or similar) )

Also -

Could be to do with this help.vodafone.co.nz perhaps your phone is only picking up the 900MHz network or the 2100MHz freq is down meaning more traffic eating into the available bandwidth. If you're willing to experiment, take a trip across town and see if it improves.

I'm guessing it isn't likely to be a tower fault, rather a phone setting but you never know.
