2003-07-30 03:12:00 | I have this kind of trouble where I click print or any program to try to make the printer print. The printer icon would be on the bottum right hand corner for about 6 seconds then disappears. No matter how many times i click print the printer won't respond. After holding ctrl-alt -delete.I would see Hptz307 I think.I end task that and it says program not responding.I ignore that and then choose ok.Now I click on print again. The printer would print. Sometimes ctrl-alt-delete and end task that program won't correct the problem.Sometimes I would need to restart the computer. Im using windows 98 se .k6 200mhz with 64 ram The hptz... program is the program for hewlett packard which is for printing. Im using a Hewlett packard printer deskjet 656c Plse help

2003-07-30 03:20:00 | Have you tried reinstalling the printer???? | stu140103 (137) | |
2003-07-30 06:18:00 | yingxuan, I suggest you do the following: 1. go to Start / Printers, and remove (delete) whatever printers installed 2. re-install your HP Deskjet 656c printer. 3. perform a test print, if everything OK, 4. try to print from other program like Word or notepad. Good luck.

2003-07-31 23:04:00 | I have re install the printer before the the problem still exist.i had another printer before this printer but this one connects using a lpt1 port. The one im using connects to a usb 1.1 port. The old printer had no trouble printing. | yingxuan (3330) | |
2003-08-01 09:26:00 | yingxuan, am I right to say that you have 2 printers currently connected to you computer: 1 connected to the LPT1 and the other connected to the USB; and the one connected to the LPT1 works fine but the USB isn't? If the above is correct, which is the default printer? I still suggest you to uninstall the new printer and then re-install it and perform a test print. Let us know the result. Cheers

2003-08-01 18:27:00 | nope. The old printer that connects to the lpt1 has been removed and the driver was deleted as well.deskjet 656c is the default printer which is the new printer The one connecting to usb which is the 656c doesn't print when i click the print. After clicking print the Print icon comes up in the taskbar for a few seconds and then disappears. Then after the icon disappears I click on print again.Nothing will happened. After holding ctrl-alt-del.U will see the printer hptz307 is still in memory but not responding.I would end task that program. And then choose print again. The printer would then print. This is what is happening to my new printer. My old printer which connected to the lpt1 port hasn't has this kind of problem. I think its to do with the software more than the hardware.Does anyone has this kinda problem with their deskjet ?

2003-08-01 21:59:00 | Just a guess, but maybe it's the usb at fault. Have you got the old printer cable and will it fit into new printer? Or perhaps get a usb-lpt convertor, if such a device is available - Dick Smith's would have one. | Greg S (201) | |
2003-08-02 12:40:00 | Try to connect your new usb HPdeskjet 656c to another computer (known to have a good working usb port) and check whether it works or not - this is to rule out a faulty printer. Is this a brand new printer? Do you have any other devices connected to your usb port?

2003-08-03 11:58:00 | Connect this new printer to another computer. This is to make sure that the printer is OK. Let us know whether it works or not.
