163734 2003-07-29 12:41:00 Hi,

I just migrated from Win98SE to WinXP Pro. I've successfully moved all my apps, documents etc, but I'm havnig some gyp moving emails from Outlook Express...

I burned the Application Data folder to CD in Win98, and copied it back into the Application Data folder in WinXP, but it doesn't show in OE.

I put it in the Application Data folder under my username - should it be in default user or somewhere else?

Any ideas?

Also - is it possible to have multiple users on Outlook 2000?

Cheers,

Erin

You need to put the files in:

%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{longnumberuniqueforyou}\Microsoft \Outlook Express

where %SYSTEMDRIVE% is your system disk e.g. C:
%USERNAME% is your logon user name
{longnumberuniqueforyou} is a GUID number enclosed in braces e.g. {B2DCE1B6-9294-44D7-B172-40C0197D2E16}

yes you can have multiple accounts for/with Outlook 2000

Cheers, Babe.

163736 2003-07-29 13:27:00 I usually just Import the mail messages. Click on File Import messages then choose main identity and then browse to where you backed up the folder. The messages should import no problem at least they always have for me. I've never tried the above method not sure if that would work. Odin (227)

It does.

That is the only method I have ever used and has never failed me yet. If you do use this method it is best to do it before using Outlook Express to avoid losing the contents of the existing Inbox when it is replaced by the backup.

163738 2003-07-30 00:39:00 Hi,

Yeah, that's the method I've always used, but when it didn't work, I thought there might be something about XP that differed... However, I'm pretty certain that's where I put the files - I'll go and check, and try the other method.

Ta,

Erin

Thanks all!
