| 163695 | 2003-07-29 09:25:00 | I planned to get a CD/RW for my PII-400, a new sound card and some software in order to transfer my vinyl LPs to CD. Some dealers are happy to sell he the hardware, while others tell me that the PII-400 processor will not be up to the job. However none of them have worked through the process Can someone tell me whether my gear will be OK for the job? |

| 163698 | 2003-07-30 07:07:00 | it should be okay, but you will need to kill all other processes - especially anti-virus software, while you are doing it. The slightest interruption in processing time will give you a faulty recording. | andy (473) | ||
| 163699 | 2003-07-30 09:04:00 | Thanks Peter H and Kiwibeat for the prompt replies. Right now with my PII-400 I have 128MB RAM and 18GB free on my hard drive, but it is beginning to look as if I need a serious upgrade or a new CPU. OM |
