| 163798 | 2003-07-30 12:24:00 | They should get nothing as their salary. Its ridiculous. They should be paying to put on the black shirt, not the other way round. Thats what its all about, the pride in playing for your country and representing it i.e. patriotism. I guess the All Blacks don't have any of that, and so they say "pay us money or we'll play for England" etc. However if they get player of the match, score a try etc, then they get some money. |

The payments to top sports people around the globe are outrageous. Individually I wish them good luck - if administrators and companies are willing to pay silly money to an All Black, good for him. However, if you develop cancer or have a bad accident I doubt that you will go looking for Douggie Howlett or Jonah. You will want the best doctor or medical researcher you can find. These people are important to us but who do we talk about and hold up as heroes? Guys who throw a ball around but do not actually add anything to the total sum of human knowledge, or our living standards. I suggest that there are members of this forum who are a damn sight more valuable to society than the All Blacks. Mind you, I never miss a game.:D |

Thats because netball isn't professional yet, hence in all nations they are on a square footing, with having to work and play netball. Rugby is professional and if everyone else is doing it as a full-time job then to stay in touch you too must also work at it fulltime, |
