| 163554 | 2003-07-30 01:39:00 | Hi Billbarbob :-) Smithie 38 and I used win 98 SE - both- and had the same problem so it is not XP v Wx as I see it and I had been talking to an XP site from my 98 SE,-with complete success long before I tried msn v6- could it be that Mr Microsoft had a systems failure while updating v5 ? don't know- I would ask a successful Wxusers whether they had success- advice I have received on F1 stops at microphone settings etc and no one would comprehend the fact I had "got sound and playback"to my speakers- BUT COULD NOT send out effie c |

I had forgotten that my sound card had been replaced by a technician and at that time he said that my microphone would have to be plugged in to a completely different socket than it used to go in to when the computer was new. Now it works fine. Don't know if this helps solve anyone else's problem but I thought it was worth mentioning. If anyone needs further specifics please post me.
