2003-07-31 12:41:00 | Sponsers? Who are they? Most are OK businesses existing in a competitive environment and are to a large extent regulated by their competitors. There is one that is not. If that sponser were to appear on this site, I would remove Press F1 from my bookmarks, and 'eef2' will never appear on these pages again. So, it would be helpful to have this monopoly sponser removed from the "suspect list".

2003-07-31 13:12:00 | I think we should leave the whole idea of trying to guess the sponsors | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-07-31 14:23:00 | >1) Would it effect your ability to talk about the sponsor's products openly and objectively? >2) Would you be more likely to "bag" the sponsors? Well as long as the sponsers aren't the PC Company, Xtra, or Microsoft I don't think we'll have a problem :D I can just imagine it now, PCco being hammered in a thread, and a nice advertising logo on the top of the page to match the problem to the culprit :) Besides, some people like 'bagging' companies when they start selling inferior stuff. I hope that we'll still be allowed to, even if they are a sponser. People block ads anyway, so I don't think many are worried about that, unless the ads become impossible to block ;)

2003-07-31 22:34:00 | Sponsorship would be good if it is directly in support of this forum. We could ensure that the Date/Time stays accurate. FAQs perform as they should. It must not be in our face, i.e. no popups etc. It focuses on NZ interests. I note a lot of foreign advertising focuses on what US calls SME, which in NZ are classed as large businesses.

2003-07-31 22:48:00 | I wouldn't have a problem with the sponsorship idea. I had similar feelings as posted by Godfather and these have all been addressed by subsequent posts. Go for it!! :D

2003-07-31 22:54:00 | I cant be bothered to read through every reply here but ... 1) Whats the TeachMe ad you already have on this site - I thought you were already doing this? :-) 2) A sponser/s ad wouldnt be a problem unless it was a popup or anoying in some other way, like covering half the screen or being too large a file size so pages took longer to load. PF1 is not fast as it is. 3) I wouldnt care whether the sponsors name was there or not in regards to my opinion about something. Mind you, they are more likely to get flack in some situations. For example, if a hot topic was poor support responses from computer companies, and a computer seller was a sponsor here then it's probably likely that that business will get more flack than others solely because the name is there. I often see here that the PC Company gets a lot of flack, but have also heard its because they have a greater share of the market. I wouldnt know as I've never had dealings with them. 4) Its great that you are asking for feedback from PF1 users. Most businesses wouldnt bother. regards Parry.
