164196 2003-07-31 11:25:00 I have no problems with the forum being sponsored either, but it will be a sad day if adverse or negative posts or threads about any of the sponsors start getting edited, locked or deleted in order to retain the sponsor. In other words, if our freedom of speech is curtailed. I am not talking about the "off the rails and unbalanced" posts, but for those I imagine the mods would no doubt step in much earlier than they do now. ;-)

164197 2003-07-31 11:32:00 God Father pinched my answers, personally I see no problem with the idea. beama (111)
164198 2003-07-31 11:41:00 Exactly.. I'm cool with it, but are the thread's going to be locked/edited if we start saying objectionable things, even if the vendor may be deserving it if they provide sub-standard materials (Within reason of course)? Chilling_Silently (228)
164199 2003-07-31 11:44:00 No Problem with it at all. hp4200 (4026)
164200 2003-07-31 11:51:00 OK by me. I look at PF1 in Opera in text mode, so I ought not see ads. I use notification only if I have posed a question, so no problem.
But one aspect about contributors growling about product X - will product X have right of reply ? Some unreasonable discussions could get dreadfully long if the moderators did not step in quickly.

164201 2003-07-31 11:55:00 Sounds like a great idea to me - can't think of any downsides to it at all Greg S (201)
164202 2003-07-31 12:00:00 heh....it aint gonna be the pc company is it?

Anyway, if its over-the-top (and i aren’t suggesting it will be) people will vote with their feet.(or browser :^O )

So much for my lifelong dream of having my very own banner add at pressf1...........

164204 2003-07-31 12:06:00 Mark,

Apart from agreeing with GF (and most of the other respondents) if I don't like the format then I'll leave... as is my perogative.

Other than that good luck with the sponsors (and sponsorship) I hope that PressF1 and PCWorld do well out of it.

Cheers, Babe.

Err yeah .... it's been a while ... still at least there are some HTML-literate posters in here who pick stuff like that up! :D

You'd almost be tempted to think this is a technical forum!! :O

Cheers
