2003-08-01 00:28:00 | > Gee a torch too? Mine hasn't got that! :( Are you sure about that exLL? Take a look at the chrome oval between the PCW logo and the volume control. It should have the word "Light" in white above it. Press that and the clear button on the top edge will light up. If you don't have a light on yours I'd write another one of those polite letters if I were you. Cheers Billy 8-{) :D [b][pre]I received one of the Consumer radios too. It is not as stylish as the PCW jobbie but it works ok and the insides are probably identical. No torch though. ;)

2003-08-01 01:43:00 | I renewed my sub in July, and didn't get a radio, or anything else for that matter except the magazine... :-( Did you have to do something extra to deserve it, or did you go into a draw or something? John

2003-08-01 01:49:00 | I used to work in a nightclub and I have about a dozen of those radios (free giveaways) emblazoned with various alcohol brands. I used one at work to listen to the americas cup coverage (on FM robo in AKLD - but was scattered with ads.) until I realised it was interferring with my GPS radio equipment and that was why I was having radio difficulties. At lunchtime was better as I had a portable tv hooked up to the van cigarette lighter. :) Good little wee radios tho - cheap to make - that is why they are such good corporate giveaways. G P

2003-08-01 02:21:00 | Oh, GP, don't go spoil it for everyone. I wouldn't mind one myself. I actually have radios all over the sodding place (just like my grandfather, yuck). At the mo' I have CD players coming out my ears - like about four portable ones. Anyway, whether it is a radio or a cd wallet, economics would suggest it isn't something worth $100. robo.

2003-08-01 02:59:00 | Oops :8} Have I opened a hornets nest? No John, you didn't have to do anything special and there was no draw. I renewed in July and the radio was actually being advertised on PF1 during July in the RH ad pane. It is on the top of the cover of the August issue, and there is also a full page ad on P110. *cough* Problem is, those ads are for new subscriptions and since Mrs T processes all payments and subscriptions etc, I don't know if the offer extended to renewals. Still, I've got a neat little radio. :| Cheers Billy 8-{) :D

2003-08-01 03:15:00 | Harrumph! Actually now I have a confession to make as well . I have an ad blocker running so I never see the ads on websites :8} I can't check my mag, because the first thing I do with mags is to rip out all of the forms that are interleaved or stuck into the staples and chuck them in the fire! Seriously, I am pretty sure that with the other mag I subscribe to (Wilderness), renewals and new subs both go into the monthly draw for some seriously pricey gifts, which is as it should be to reward loyalty . Otherwise it feels like these incentives are a bribe to get people to subscribe and then once you have got them hooked, who gives a toss? ]:)

The winner knows who they are, but we are trying to resolve some compatibility issues at the moment (between some individuals and reality, but I didn't say that). robo. |
