163898 2003-07-30 08:42:00 Hi Team

I just renewed my PCW subscription (the least I could do for all the fun I have on PF1, plus its a darned good read every month) and I am tickled pink with the free radio.:D

It is an amazing performer for its size and is a real cutie to look at. Plugging in a big set of headphones makes it even more impressive.

Anybody else received one and tried it?

Cheers

163899 2003-07-30 08:57:00 I've still got about 6 months before mine comes up for renewal... otherwise I'd definitely be in. -=JM=- (16)
163900 2003-07-31 06:56:00 I got my radio, but it didn't work - so I kept the batteries and headphones and threw the rest in the bin. flyer590 (2523)

Are you sure you operated it correctly.?:|

You do have to do the right things to bring up the stations, including putting the batteries in around the right way.;)

[b][pre]I'm sure PCW would send you a new one
if you asked them nicely.

163903 2003-07-31 08:51:00 Yes, they are cute radios!

Here,s a Consumer consumer's story. (No I didn't make a typo error).

I renewed my subscription to Consumer magazine and received a free radio, similar to the PCWorld ones. :)

One earpiece had a broken housing, although it still worked. :(

In correct 'consumer' fashion, I sent a nicely worded letter asking if they had a spare earpiece to replace the faulty one.

Within a couple of days a complete new radio arrived with a nice letter of apology and a statement saying that I could keep the original too. :)

For those who are wondering about the PCWorld radios, they have three controls. A volume control, a scan button and a reset button. The earpiece cord acts as an aerial, so needs to be fairly well extended for best reception.

You click the scan button and it automatically goes to the next station.
Click it again and it finds the next one. When you get to the last available station, you press reset to start at the beginning again.

BTW, it works on FM only. (Also, although it is quite fast, give the poor thing time to think when clicking on buttons, don't expect to play it like a piano. :p)

163904 2003-07-31 10:41:00 You forgot to mention the built-in torch exLL, that's a novelty in itself though it's not much use for anything beyond finding a keyhole.

Cheers

Gee a torch too? Mine hasn't got that! :(

Oh well, I still like my 'old basic model'. :)

Cheers.

163906 2003-07-31 21:13:00 Yes, FM only, RadioSport is only AM. I hate that. Cellphones with radios are only FM, lots of tiny radios are only FM. NBG if you want to hear some cricket or rugby. etc.
robo.

163907 2003-07-31 22:21:00 You need to migrate to the Hutt Robo. Radio Sport's on AM & FM + cable broadband & TV (Saturn TV, Sky sport & movies, perfect reception all the time)

When did you re-newI your subscription Mr T, I must have got one of the last CD wallets. The first mag in the subscription arrived the other day. Hmm, Radio Sport while I work, would be nice.
