164586 2003-08-01 23:43:00 OK tried yahoo messenger (installed without explorer bar), didn't like it, uninstalled it but was left with yahoo messenger explorer bar in add/remove, yahoo explorer bar under view explorer bar in IE6 and Yahoo messenger under tools.

Got rid of the add/remove entry using a program called add remove pro

Got rid of the entry under view, explorer bar by following the instructions on www.bigblueball.com and editing the registry

anyone know how I can get rid of the yahoo messenger under tools in IE6?

it really annoys me its there.

Ok, I might of read your post wrong, but if you went to the Control Panel add/remove programs then found Yahoo messenger then uninstall it from there, it *should * remove all traces of it.

What I suggest you try is reinstall yahoo messenger & try & uninstall again & see if that helps

164588 2003-08-02 04:32:00 Yes I did use add/remove to start with and it *should* have removed all traces of it but alas it didn't (crap yahoo uninstaller). I have tried reinstalling and uninstalling again but it doesn't work. Searching the net I have found people with the same problem but have only found out how to get rig of the yahoo explorer under view, explorer bar.

So does anyone know how I can get rid of the Yahoo Messenger entry under toold in IE6?

164589 2003-08-02 06:22:00 Have you tried doing a registry search for 'Yahoo' in addition to the instructions given in that URL? If anything comes up delete it. Terry Porritt (14)
164590 2003-08-02 07:11:00 I have and get a couple of results but I'm not that confident in editing the registry, I wan't to make sure its the right thing.

I will get the details of each one and post them later as I have to go out tonight.

164591 2003-08-02 08:28:00 I tried deleting the obvious Yahoo sub keys under Internet Explorer, Explorer bars and extensions, but 'Yahoo! Messenger' still appeared in View-Explorer Bar. There must be an obscure sub key somewhere that puts this in, but sorry, cant find it.

A challenge for someone.

lol, These tiny things annoys me as well, I?m a perfectionist freak, I go reinstalling things if someone moves things out of default!

try reinstalling Yahoo messenger and then close all the apps running in the background and then run the uninstaller again choosing custom option (if their is one) and select all, select all blah blah blah. Run regcleaner. And if its still their, and you are a perfectionist freak like me, reinstall IE, and you might want to upgrade to IE6 if you haven?t already. And you might want to try Opera browser, its so fast!!!
