164498	2003-08-01 11:54:00	I wonder if someone can help me , I am in deep ****. I have received a price list from my supplier and have spent around 8 hrs modifying it. By taking stuff out (not used stuff) to make it suitable for my business (hose doctor). I just noticed before I printed it that the part numbers aren't sorted properly I have Word 2000. It sort of sorts if that makes sense but has some random out of numerical/text hiccups. My part numbers are like these examples: 100R9R-16, 201-08-08, FF3030-25, D-08-08, Z-08 etc. I have noted in Word help which says hypens can cause problems and to replace the hyphen with a period, tried that but can only change them one at a time and I have 4500 part numbers! The price list has 4 columns, part number, description,u/m, price. I thought no probs I will just cut and paste the columns into a Excel sheet and it will get sorted. I have a similar Exel file with the same part numbers (truck inventory) and it sorts **** hot. But no gloom and despair I cant select the columns in the word document it just highlights right across the row. I could email the doc (its 450k) to anyone that could help, in return for a tray of piss if you live in West Auckland. Thanks tedheath	tedheath (537)

164500	2003-08-01 20:00:00	Doing a global change from hyphen to . or space is easy go to Edit - Replace and then replace all - with . Otherwise replace the - with a space, save as txt file, import into excel and then you can sort easily	piva (3796)

164502	2003-08-01 22:11:00	Thanks Piva I did what you said got excited for a few seconds, managed to replace all hyphens with periods and spaces (2 seperate files) Saved as text file imported into excel but even after saving as text file and importing into excel I cant select the part number column to sort . 164503	2003-08-01 23:37:00	I can't really understand exactly what your problem is, but if you are not using a table for your data then you can highlight it all and "convert text to a table" . That will be most successful if your data is separated by tabs . Once you have your data in a table you highlight the whole lot, go to Table > Sort and tell it which column/s you want it sorted by . Check out the Options settings for extra options . Like I said, I don't know if this is what you want so ignore if it doesn't apply . 164504	2003-08-02 04:26:00	Susan maybe I didnt say it clearly enough ,I cant select or highlight the column to sort. Can anyone help? I will email the file to them. The problem is in the way it has been formated, Using the space key doesn't give give you a true columns thus giving us a major problem.
