2003-08-01 05:05:00 | Agnogenic Of unknown cause! I just knew there had to be a word out there somewhere to describe BSODs, bubnchs, greebnchs and all those other mysterious happenings that afflict computer users everywhere. Clearly they are all agnogenic phenomena, and are therefore totally inexplicable. Of course, that also means that nobody is to blame. ;\ Cheers Billy 8-{) :D For an explanation of gronking & bubnchs See THIS Thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) Greebnchs are mutated bubnchs that have crossed to the dark side, where they now infest computer internal instruction sets. They cause perfectly reasonable requests to fall on deaf ears and previously legitimate computer commands to refuse to obey the rules.

2003-08-01 06:38:00 | "By 2006, your desktop computer will have the equivalent of the brain of a mosquito" Maurice Williamson, MP. "Mine already bites me causing prolonged irritation, and makes annoying noises I can't find the origin of." My partner Agnogenic noises. Thanks Billy. Then, of course there's "teratogenic" (problems caused by attempts at repair, or by the latest OS 'upgrade') Argus

Teratogenic is to do with foetuses. A tertogenic computer problem would be one that develops in your handheld, perhaps. Argus |

2003-08-01 06:45:00 | > "By 2006, your desktop computer will have the > equivalent of the brain of a mosquito" At present it only has the equivalent of two MPs brains. :^O

2003-08-01 08:22:00 | Wonderful! An all purpose word, a word for all occasions of beggared ideas and key stabbing frustration. Now to find a legitimate use other than this on forum hmm... not too hard either :) > At present it only has the equivalent of two MPs > brains. :^O I see your feeling generous today Billy, it seems at times that you couldn't fit the entire houses intellectual credentials on a postage stamp let alone list their acts of integrity on a taxi chit X-(. I truly hope this word doesn't find its way into their vocabluary, they'll ruin its use for all time. Cheers Murray ;P

2003-08-01 12:09:00 | ok so your telling me this is the problem with my puter and it may not be operator trouble? thank god for that .... :p this still does not help my mind to rest as this is quite a broad term and does not actually define what really could be wrong with the puter in my life at the moment? but it gives me an idea of what its called and thats a little bit more polite than ive been calling it.... :D well done Billy T you always manage to astound us every week with your amazing thoughts and words. and your descriptions sometimes defies logic..... have a great weekend beetle

2003-08-03 11:14:00 | I like this word Billy, especially since I can (I think!) pronounce it, for once. :D It is very appropriate too, and I enjoyed the nostalgic trip down memory lane with the bubnchs and greebnchs. Not sure if it was a good idea mentioning them though -- according to MarkE they were playing merry hell with the forum this morning. You must have woken them up! :D
