164365 2003-08-01 03:28:00 Since upgrading my PC from W2K Pro to XP Pro (SP1), all of my movie files (.avi) run slowly and with distorted sound. Also I imported a new video from my Canon DV into Movie Maker 2 and that is the same.

Same in Windows Media Player, Quicktime Player and Real Player.

Have Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator installed but had problem before this.

Any ideas?

164367 2003-08-01 04:59:00 SP1 had a flaw in it slows some PCs down as much as 50% kiwibeat (304)
164368 2003-08-01 06:04:00 Dunno, if this is the same thing, but one of my friends had a problem when all his games went in slow motion with odd sound, and he uninstalled quicktime, and it went fine. mejobloggs (264)

Do u mean it is the same playback speed . ie it has a playback speed of 1X . So when u imported there was no difference in playback speed? Or are u saying that the files imported from the camera show slowly with distorted sound?

>Have Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator installed but had problem before this .

So the problem has been persistant even before u installed the above programs?

Wot video card do have? Go to the Control Panel, Display, setting, and click on Advanced and see if ur video card is set to acceleration (full) and set it to half way, and also check wot the refresh rate .

164374 2003-08-02 11:22:00 Dr DIVX does the trick. Now play perfectly and the files are a fraction of the size they were (2GB down to 47MB!) but......

When I use Movie Maker 2 to send movie back to DV camera after editing, it ends up on the camera erratic and jerky.

Is there an equiv to DIVX for sending files back to a DV Camera?
