| 164248 | 2003-07-31 10:43:00 | I run a PC with Win 2000 and Office XP. Other relevant apps are ACT 6.0, which has its own e-mail programme and ability to link with Outlook, Norton Antivirus 2002 which checks in and out e-mail and Mailwasher as a SPAM filter. I have a Jetstart connection through Xtra but want to check email and reply to email at ICONZ. The POP3 address I use is mail.iconz.co.nz and the SMTP address is mta.xtra.co.nz, which I got from looking at a friends similar setup. Now Outlook regularly crashes when I try to send or receive messages. The progress bar freezes at about 50%. Though the personal folder *.pst is password protected I can then restart Outlook without a password but still not retrieve email. If I open the Office Application Recovery programme I see there are two or more sessions of Outlook now running. If I close one of the sessions I get an error message referring to the ntdll.dll file and the option of sending this info to Microsoft. If I reboot the computer it often has to end Outlook.exe even though it's not visible in Task manager applications window. I've tried various combinations of closing apps to see what is causing the freeze but haven't uncovered anything. Unfortunately the email component in ACT doesn't have all the features of Outlook so I would like to keep Outlook as the primary email programme. Can anybody shed some light on this? BTeam |

| 164249 | 2003-07-31 21:10:00 | It seems very strange that you would send via one ISP and receive via another. I would expect you to use mail.iconz.co.nz and mail.iconz.co.nz (got this from iconz website). For xtra it would be pop3.xtra.co.nz and smtp.xtra.co.nz. I'd try that first. robo. |
