165004 2003-08-03 04:46:00 do you need to sign up for anything when you use adsl modems or is it just plug in and play hazza (2704)
165005 2003-08-03 05:07:00 Yes, unfortunately, you have to sign up with an ISP who provides adsl and obtain a logon for their adsl service.

Yes, if you do a search on here you can find out more about getting ADSL

165008 2003-08-03 05:54:00 A rough guide of what ADSL will cost ...

First, can you actually get ADSL? Check your phone number herer (www.telecom.co.nz)

You will be paying Telecom $29.95 per month for Jetstream Starter on top of your monthy phone account (it is a separate service). You will also be paying an ISP approximately $34.95 per month for the connection.

One off costs will be a ADSL exchange connection fee of $99 payable to Telecom (if the hard wired option is not required) and the costs of an ADSL modem. You will also need to buy filters at $20 each for each phone socket in the house (apart from the one the ADSL modem plugs into).

165009 2003-08-03 07:18:00 Out of interest, I'm currently paying Xtra $34.95/mo (or thereabouts) for Jetstream starter with 5G international cap. I see Orcon offer the same, for $19.95 - does anyone have any experience with Orcon as an ADSL ISP? wuppo (41)
