164856 2003-08-03 03:10:00 How do I get rid of the annoying popups telling me I have to register my email address and offering a Messenger Update every time I go on line in Outlook Express. I dont use Messenger and am not likely to. I have tried right clicking to no avail. Can I delete Messenger in Add/Remove programs? Thanks. Mike Madigan (4358)

Yes, just look for MSN messenger if it is not listed they, have a look under the windows set-up tab then look for Communications then messenger should be listed there

Hope this helps, post back here & Welcome to Press F1 :)

164860 2003-08-03 12:38:00 Go to C:\windows\inf\
Open sysoc.inf
find
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
and remove 'hide' from it:
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7
Close the file and save it
In Add Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows Components uninstall windows messenger.
