164739 2003-08-02 10:53:00 Hi,

I've just reinstalled XP after setting up a new computer. Unfortunately I have some folders from the old installation that I want to access from the previous installation that I can't not get to.

Does anyone know how to remove password protection from folders - I've got the same username and password but no luck.

Any suggestions?

164741 2003-08-02 11:17:00 ok, found the answer:

In Windows Explorer - Tools | Folder Options | View Tab -> Advanced| then turn off simple file sharing. This then allows you to take control of folders and files.

I think that MS need to have a level in between for controlling security - the simple file sharing gives the user no control at all...
