164776 2003-08-05 02:40:00 Just saw this mistake from Graham,

Try

linux mem=1024M

I'm not sure why 1GB of RAM isn't working for you, usually you need to use the bigmem kernel if you are using 2GB or more.

164777 2003-08-05 11:10:00 I brought a wee book by PC World (minibooks).
Linuxworld.com.au for $18. it comes with Red Hat *.0 and Mandrake 9.0
an applications disc. 6cds in all. It cost about $18, but in the book gives pretty comprehensive instructions for both versions. I'm in the middle of trying it, so will report back when problems or success strike.
*yes, I know there are later versions out there, but the book looked very handy, and is probably just as relevant to those later versions.

164778 2003-08-05 23:11:00 Yeah.. There's not too many things different between RH 9 and 8, and Ive read a few reviews saying that 10's not too different, more that they're having trouble deciding if they want the OS to be for n00b's or slightly more "at home" linux users :-) Chilling_Silently (228)
