Speaking of icons, last August the esteemed HARLEY provided me with instructions for eliminating those loathesome shortcut arrows on desktop icons. 1. Load the System Registry Editor by opening the Start menu, choosing Run, typing "regedit," and pressing Enter. 2. Navigate through HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT until you find the "lnkfile" entry. Note that its LINKFILE not INKFILE. 3. Click to select "lnkfile" on the left pane, then select and delete the "IsShortcut" item on the right pane. 4. You may have to restart Windows. Copied from my cardfile and oddly enough in item 2,my W98 does have "inkfile"but in other boxes I have seen it as Linkfile? Cheers,Kiwitas,;-) |

The Axcel site (see my post at the top) says this about it: "DISADVANTAGE: This "hack" breaks the ability of using Alt + Ctrl + Pick-A-Key "hot combos" (keyboard shortcuts) for running Desktop/Start menu shortcuts. :( " |
