| 164669 | 2003-08-13 07:11:00 | *cough* Confession time :8} I did not have the skipfile in the ghost directory on the boot floppy, but to my addled brain the error messages indicated that the skipfile had been found. On examining my boot floppy closer, I found a ghost error log: Date : Wed Aug 13 08:48:59 2003 Error Number: (18190) Message: No such file or directory when opening SKIPFILE.TXT Version: 6.50 (Aug 22 2000, Build=131) License: Command line arguments: -skip=@skipfile.txt Active Switches : No Switches specified in options panel or ghost.cfg I hadn't seen this before but it suggests\confirms that you are right about the directory (sob). Not so sure about the Caps for SKIP though, if you did that first it might not be necessary. I'll ghost a W2K box tonight and let you know results. I was just looking at it a short while ago with ZTree and found 13 index.dat files: Guess what I'll be adding to my skipfile. :D Cheers Billy 8-{) |

I added the .txt to the end and made the > skip CAPS > > i.e. ghostpe.exe -SKIP=@skipfile.txt > and made sure that the skipfile.txt is in the ghost > directory on the bootdisk. Okay CYaBro, You were right on the directory issue, but there is no need for skip to be in caps. I now have the skipfile working OK. For W98 it reads: *\*.swp *\*.gho *\*.tmp *\index.dat and for W2K it reads: *\*.gho *\*.tmp *\index.dat *\pagefile.sys I am assuming that Windows will recreate the swapfile if it is missing on boot after re-imaging a drive. Thanks for the help Cheers Billy 8-{) :D |

| 164671 | 2003-08-27 11:53:00 | Norton ghost sounds absolutely horrible to deal with. I think I'll stick to my GUI interface DriveImage | PoWa (203) | ||
| 164672 | 2003-08-27 12:45:00 | Hi PoWa Ghost 2003 also has a gui interface but if you want to do exclusions or other special things you occasionally have to use dos switches. I don't know how far you can customise DriveImage but I'd be interested to know. Could you exclude files as I am doing with the Ghost skipfile? Cheers Billy 8-{) |
