| 165156 | 2003-08-04 12:51:00 | Hi there, the problem will be that youhave not installed the Linmodem Drivers found at Intel.com. These drivers can be downloaded to your windows system and then copied to CD. You open the Cd in Mandrake then right click on the driver on folder and then create directory using this extension tar - intel536ep.tgz. this will put this file on the home directory. You will then need to download the kernel headers off the International CD using the mandrake control centre, software management, then RPM Drake to install, in the search box type kernel-source, it will find the kernel you require and install when asked. You also need to install the kppp dialer using the same method and it will tell you what CD to use for that. Find you tar file and double click to open, right click on the folder in there called Intel 536-440 and go down the line to open terminal here, click open terminal and enter su then enter your root password if you have one. type make clean then type make 536ep then type make install this should install your drivers and nicely as well you then find your kppp dialer and enter your ISP information and it will automatically go to the modem that is installed.
