165147 2003-08-04 01:22:00 Just after a bit of a hand setting up KMail with Orcon and my email account:
Ive registered one address for my account with Orcon, which is also my email address/login name etc. and two other email aliases.

Now... Sending from one alias to the other works fine, but try and send outside of Orcon, and I get errors:

Sending Failed:
One of the recipients was not accepted:
the server responded "5.7.1 <otherdudesemail@domainname.co.nz>...
Relaying denied. Proper Authentication required

Then it just says some stuff about the message being held in my outbox until sent or cleared by me.

Now.. Here's my orcon settings:

Name: Orcon.smtp
host: smtp.orcon.net.nz
port: 25

Encryption: None
Authentication Method (Can be None, Login, Cram-md5, or digest-md5): Login
I ran a "Cehck what server supports" for encryption and auth. and it came with None and Login :-)

Where do I begin?
Password's fine...

Any idea's?

Cheers

Chill.

165148 2003-08-04 01:29:00 I'd try for the authentication method as login. Or just use your ISPs SMTP server, some SMTP servers need you to be on the same network as it.

*goes to tinker with email client.*

165149 2003-08-04 01:33:00 If your ISP is not Orcon then you need to use your ISP's smtp settings for outward mail. Fire-and-Ice (3910)

Hello Chilling_Silently

You can NOT sent e-mail throw Orcon SMTP server (do a search on here, under my ID, to find out why :) ;)), you have to use your ISP SMTP server :)

** thinks about doing a FAQ on Orcon SMTP mail server ;) :) **

165151 2003-08-04 03:30:00 Okay, I'll look into setting up my PC to use sendmail or something to send/receive email, I'll go check the redhat package list :-)

Thanks!
