| 165092 | 2003-08-03 13:50:00 | After installing a network card (dse xh7975) all internet software crashes when the program tries to connect to the web. E.G. In 'unknown module': Internet Explorer v 6.0.2800.1106 encounters a problem, offset: 007710fb Messenger encounters a problem offset: 000000013. Critical update performs an illegal operation at 0084: 0077006f Wuloader causes an invalid page fault at 0084: 0077006f. I have uninstalled and reinstalled: win98 se network adapters modem drivers HSF Modem Enumerator drivers TCP\IP protocols (communications & internet tools) components I Have: removed the network card (which is functioning) moved the modem around PCI slots checked the winsock files upgraded to dun 1.4 checked for conflicts removed PWS.Hooker.Troj moved the sound card with no hassels meditated, cursed, prayed. The modem connects to the ISP fine. I believe I have pinged outside websites (before causing an error, but not after). After the dial up connection is established there is no more traffic in or out from the modem, not even when the programs are started. God bless the person (ten times over) who helps me solve this problem. Or even points me in a good direction. It is a conexant rs56\sp-pci r6793-11 modem. Justin |

| 165095 | 2003-08-04 01:22:00 | Try taking the network card to someone elses computer, and see if the same problems occur. Also, it might be worth checking the internet setting that no settings have been changed, especially the DNS server addresses and Proxy server addresses. - still doesn't explain the crashing however. When you say "uninstalled and reinstalled Win98SE", do you mean reformat and reinstall, or uninstall and reinstall? Could the trojan have caused enough damage before you removed it, to cause the software to crash? |

| 165096 | 2003-08-04 02:00:00 | I have a moden the same as this and have had a similar problem. I believed it to be the driver . the modem came from a packard bell and I tried installing on several different comps with the same result each time different os too. I NEVER SOLVED THE PROBLEM SORRY. I reckon the modem will work with the correct driver but i cant find one. goodluck. | zip1nz (2251) | ||
| 165097 | 2003-08-04 02:03:00 | From what Justin typed in his original post, it seems that there were no problems with the modem prior to the installation of the network card. Correct me if i'm wrong. |
