165034 2003-08-03 08:05:00 hi guys
i have a windows 95 computer with a 166 mhz cpu with 64 megs of ram. i recently started it up only to find that it gave me the following error message:

A fatal execption has occured at 031F:00001877. The current application will be terminated.

i have tried starting it in safe mode, comand promt only, step by step confirmation, normal and logged but to no avail. i have tried a virus scan and found nothing also i have run scan disk with the same result. i think it might have something to do with windows explorer but i dont know. also i have recently installed Half Life to it so could that be the problem?

any help is greatly appreiciated

Thanks
James

165035 2003-08-03 11:45:00 The poor computer has probably died of fright when you loaded that game as it is certainly under the minimum specifications. Try uninstalling it and see whether that helps. Jen C (20)
165036 2003-08-03 11:48:00 Have you tried reinstalling win 95??? stu140103 (137)
165037 2003-08-03 12:29:00 It could be a Direct X conflict, try re-installing 95 over top of itself and see how things go!

You'd want Direct X 8.1 iirc, as 9 is NOT Win9x compatible :-)

165038 2003-08-03 21:19:00 That must be another urban rumor Chill :)

My Win98 accepted the upgrade ok, maybe you should tell MS it is not supposed to :D
