| 165450 | 2003-08-05 10:57:00 | Fazakerley Jumbo :) TTFN was a catch phrase used by Tommy Handley in the radio program ITMA, in the early 1940s, usually as Mrs Mop, his char lady was leaving. Her catch phrase was 'Can I do you now sir?' as she came in, and 'It's being so cheerful as keeps me going' as she went out, and Tommy Handley would say 'TTFN'. I dont know of the expression being used before this, but I cant remember many pre-war programs except vaguely 'Monday Night at Eight'. It may have come from Liverpool, as Tommy Handley was Liverpudlian. (Fazakerley is a place near Liverpool and another catch phrase meaning exactly.) |

| 165454 | 2003-08-05 11:30:00 | ok getting back to the original post i feel that youre a newbie when you dont worry about your thread / post is overtaken by some other topic, because youre not so worried about your thread being lost as long as you learn something else by the exercise or your hijacked posttopic, which you may learn something from....... :p :D am i right? it no longer worries me if i dont get the answer i expected to just pop up instantly from some knowledgeable other... as long as i learn along the way some thing that may be of use to me.... have a good evening people and thanxs for the input, thread topic or otherwise....... its nice to know people take notice sometimes, show they are interested enough to reply. beetle |
