| 166042 | 2003-08-07 10:09:00 | I purchased the inspire 5 . 1 5500 speakers and seem to have trouble getting the correct sound out of them (more so the back speakers) . I am certain they are all connected correctly, but when I use the 'Creative sound mixer' properties to test the speakers, I get the female voice through the 'front left', 'front right', but nothing through the centre or rear speakers . I find this strange, since I have all Creative gear from the soundcard, to the speakers . When I had my old Midiland 4 . 1 speakers, the test ran correctly through the front and rears . I can get sound through the rears, but it is very faint, and not as strong as the fronts and centre . I would have thought that the sound would be equally distributed between all, and yes, I am aware of the settings on the console, and played with them to no avail . |

| 166043 | 2003-08-07 12:38:00 | Hey, Have you tried going to Live task, and selecting 5 . 1 speakers or Live!Surround . . . see if that makes any kind of difference . . . or is that what you meant when you said you had tried all the settings on the console ?? Try switching your front and rear speakers just to see if it is the soundcard or software or the speakers that are responsible . I . e . put the front speakers into the black port And put the rear speakers into the green port Then play the sound mixer thingy again and see if its the same problem different speakers . Maybe youd also want to try going to that creative speaker dialogue box and ensure 'digital output only' is selected . All this is assuming you have a Live! Card like I do, I dont know how similar the Audigy line is to what I've got Try that, I may be way off, but I know how much it sucks to get such a cool toy only to not have it work properly . |

| 166044 | 2003-08-08 02:05:00 | Here is what Creative have to say . Why does the speaker test only output from two front speakers with my Inspire 5 . 1 5500 connected to the digital output of my 5 . 1 sound card? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keywords speaker, test, output, front, inspire, connect, digital, sound, 5 . 1, sp/dif . coaxial, stereo Applies to Creative Inspire 5 . 1 Digital 5500 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Advice Despite the fact that your soundcard supports 5 . 1 output, the speaker test only outputs from two speakers as the test signal is not an AC3 signal . If you play AC3 (Dolby Digital) sounds, the amplifier will decode these and will address all 5 speakers discretely . This is due to the inputs available on the speaker system/amplifier: 1 Optical SP/DIF in - which receives either Stereo PCM signal or AC-3 Bitstream (no rear/center-sub channels) 1 Coaxial SP/DIF in - which receives either Stereo PCM signal or AC-3 Bitstream (no rear/center-sub channels) 1 Stereo Line in - Stereo analogue input With stereo signals like WAV and MP3 the amplifier unit generates a 5 . 1 signal based on the incoming stereo signal, provided the Dolby Pro Logic function is activated . |
