| 166036 | 2003-08-07 09:25:00 | Hi I have this strange problem that causes my xp pro mechine to pause just after bootup, I can click on programs to start them but there is about a 60 sec wait before they will even start to load, Its almost like it is trying to conect to a network or something like that, This computer is connected to a lan(3 pcs 2 XP PRO and 1 win98se) and also to a cable internet service, I have tried to disable my firewall and that hasnt fixed the problem, Has anybody else had this same problem. One the computer get past the pause it is fine. PC Specs are 2600+ athloan with 512mg DDR ram, 64mg Video card Thansk in advance James Cuttance Christchurch |

| 166037 | 2003-08-07 09:59:00 | Got any antivirus software etc? That can slow it down. otherwise try BootVis, or turning the welcome screen off (remarkable speed increase): Control panel -> Users -> Change the way users log in -> untick use welcome screen and fast user switching. Reboot |
