166111 2003-08-08 05:23:00 It's a great time saver. That's why some dot matrix printers had a "bidirectional mode". Saves the time for carriage return in each line. :D

Or not.

166112 2003-08-08 05:44:00 Hey, I had one of those boustrophedonic dot-matrix printers
once myself Graham.

So there is nothing new under the sun? :(

Cheers

166113 2003-08-08 08:01:00 Must've been a real bugger trying to read the output Graham.

Billy you haven't got a typo in there somewhere or have I missed one of your subtleties, boustrophedon brain perhaps ?:|

166116 2003-08-08 20:33:00 Bet no-one ever produced a digital device that printed in a spiral (see "Phaistos Disk").

However an interesting Unicode proposal (together with a drawing of both sides of the disk) is at: unicode.org

166117 2003-08-09 02:58:00 But printing in a spiral is one of the "standard" PostScript examples ... the output looks quite nice. You can even have the type size diminishing as you work in to the centre. :D Graham L (2)
