166446 2003-08-09 22:47:00 Small point - but it appears that the Press F1 clock/time stamp is running 15-20 minutes fast?? KiwiCJ (1270)
166447 2003-08-09 23:02:00 Many people have discussed this issue before. I recall that someone said that it would take too much effort to recalibrate the clock, so they haven't bothered to do it. somebody (208)
166448 2003-08-09 23:06:00 It is preparing for the Daylight Saving time changeover. Fire-and-Ice (3910)
166449 2003-08-09 23:14:00 It explains Bruce's location.

It seems to be 16 minutes ahead of GMT +1200 (ie, correct NZ time).

Never been this bad before, either...

166450 2003-08-10 03:29:00 So it's synchronised to the Auickland sundial. The equation of time goes something like 16 minutes either way, so it should be drifting back soon.

Otherwise to satisfy all those who are worried: just stop the clock. Then it will be exactly precisely right once every 24 hours.

166451 2003-08-10 07:26:00 Hi,
If you read Bruce Buckmans location
"From: Coming from 8 minutes into your future . . ."
this should explain it :)

166452 2003-08-10 10:55:00 Have posted same query here before and was told I should have searched.

I now tell whoever it was of 2 alternative fixes 4 the server: [not hard] :|

(1) Right click on the graphic of ZD net's "Net Mon" to sync your clock (free download) I use an older version, but I saw one tonight that can reboot a server (as well as sync the time clock :) www.a1monitor.com

or:

(2) Right click in the system tray after free downloading "Say the Time" version 5 www.provenio.ws :D

Think about it this forum has over 164936 messages in 36445 topics & any changes they might do to the server to fix the time might upset the server, then it might mean that Press F1 Goes offline!

have a look at this thread for more details (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)

PS: Bruce if you reading this you should do a sticky on this :)

166454 2003-08-10 12:30:00 not to worry daylight saving coming then it will be 45 minutes slow :p beama (111)
166455 2003-08-10 22:51:00 Not sure how the time system works with Jive but I've seen on vBulletin forums that when the time is adjusted there is just a small time period where when you post the reply could end up above the answer. -=JM=- (16)
