166518 2003-08-10 04:39:00 I’m running Norton System Works 2003 Pro on Windows XP Pro. When I go into Norton Ghost (whether Ghost Basic/Backup or Ghost Advanced/Clone), one of my partitions is missing – and of course, it’s the one I want to back up!

I have 2 physical drives – First is 80Gb, with 2 partitions C and E (both NTFS). The second drive is 20Gb and has 3 partitions (D = 11Gb, F = 4Gb and G = 4Gb (all Fat32)), but G drive is not visible in Ghost. In Ghost Advanced/Clone, however, I notice that Ghost has identified 4Gb of unused space at the end of the second drive on the Destination portion of the screen.. It is most certainly not unused – in fact it has only 600-700 Mb free.

Is there anything I can do to unearth the missing partition? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers

166519 2003-08-10 04:54:00 Did you install GoBack which came with NSW 2003 Pro? It is known to cause problems with Ghost (who knows why Symantec bundled that software with a Ghost package??).

Symantec has a few suggestion which you may like to look at:

Ghost cannot see a drive or partition in the drive selection window (service1.symantec.com)

Cannot see partitions when running GoBack (service1.symantec.com)

Ghost compatibility with GoBack (service1.symantec.com)

Hopefully one of those links will help.

166520 2003-08-10 06:01:00 Hi Jen C,

Thanks for your response. No, I didn't install GoBack (I have used it in the past on a different PC and the overhead was crippling, so I've never used it since). None of the other situations seems to fit my situation. My next step, I guess, is to reinstall NSW and see what effect that has.

Cheers

If you do uninstall and reinstall, try installing the program on the partion/drive that it refuses to recognize then it will have no choice but to see it.
Just an idea
